Commitment to the Environment

The organization ensures that all its activities are carried out in conformance with the relevant environmental legislation and the requirements of Ministry of Environment and Forest, Directorate of Environment, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Our organization seeks to minimize waste, promote recycling, reduce energy consumption, reduce harmful emissions and, where possible, to work with suppliers who are committed to caring and protecting for the environment.

Water consumption

As Dhaka’s population density grows, the added infrastructure and development means water usage goes up as well. At all of our sites, we have implemented optimal water-usage strategies to avoid wastage. Low water-usage toilet and plumbing fixtures are used. We are planning to use harvested rainwater for gardening and flushing the toilets. Our ultimate goal is to be water neutral.

Energy Efficient

Facilities are designed for low energy consumption by reducing power-demand and by using energy-efficient equipment.

Technology

Giant Group uses state-of-the-art technology in its facility. The modern machinery used is aimed at effectively reducing wastage, saving energy and water consumption and improve our efficiency.Technology is one of the key success factors in achieving this goal, as well as improving our profitability. We are continuously collaborating with our customers and other organizations to improve our competitiveness.

Because, Detox is an International Campaign and LIDL has commitment with it, they launched PURE Program in 40 factories in China and 40 factories in Bangladesh to march with DETOX campaign to accomplish their commitment.

STeP by OEKO-TEX®

Sustainable Textile Production (STeP) by OEKO-TEX® is a certification system for brands, retail companies and manufacturers from the textile chain who want to communicate their achievements regarding sustainable manufacturing processes to the public in a transparent, credible and clear manner. The objective of STeP certification is the permanent implementation of environmentally friendly production processes, optimum health and safety and socially acceptable working conditions. The dynamic further development of the STeP standard and the benchmarks allows certified companies to continuously improve their environmental protection achievements and their social responsibility as well as their efficiency. This in turn enables them to achieve the best possible competitive position on the market. Giant Textile made their production processes much more efficient on the basis of a STeP certification. Their system helps us to determine our company's positioning with regard to sustainability and shows areas for improvement. The independent proof of sustainable production conditions also provides an image boost allowing us to open up new markets and supplier relations.

Workplace safety is of paramount importance to us. We have inspected the building, fire and electrical safety standards of all our existing facilities by localinternationally qualified agencies. We are now upgrading our facilities per their recommendations and foresight. We have also made sure that all our facilities are using the latest technology conforming to the highest standards forlocal and international fire and building safety codes. ACCORD has been a great partner at making our workplace as safe as possible.

Alongside fire and building safety, we also find that health and other accident preventions at the work place to be just as important. This entails the creationof awork environment indirect relation with the physical and physiological capabilities and limitations of our employees. We alwaystry our best to reduce stress from environmental sources such as heat, glare, or noise in order for our valued employees to continue working in calm and stress-free conditions.
